Active and safe transportation
Motor vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death in Santa Clara County. Creating a safe place where people can live, work, and play is important. Addressing the risk areas can improve the health and well-being of residents. To address traffic safety concerns, the Healthy Communities Branch has teamed up with:
- Community-based organizations
- Pedestrian and bicycle advocates
- Law enforcement

The County uses an approach known as the 6 E's. The 6 E's include Engagement, Equity, Engineering, Encouragement, Education, and Evaluation. The Healthy Communities Branch offers programs and information for Santa Clara County residents to learn how to reduce injuries and deaths due to traffic crashes.
- Safe routes to school
