Diabetes Prevention Program and wellness resources
The Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) is shown by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to prevent Type 2 Diabetes. It’s a lifestyle change program for people with prediabetes that can help you:
- Lose 5 to 7 percent of your body weight.
- Increase your physical activity routine to 150 minutes per week.
- Stay motivated to achieve your health goals.
- Manage your stress.
- Track the food you eat.
Classes are offered in a group setting in the community, at clinics, and online. A DPP Lifestyle Coach will support you for 1 year. Most health insurance plans, including Medicare and Medi-Cal, cover the cost of the program. For those without insurance, the cost can range from $429 or more for the 1-year program.
